FAQ – Frequently Asked Questions

Is MedDev Day held annually?

Yes. MedDev Day is an annual medical device conference held each autumn in Europe. Each edition focuses on current developments in medical device regulation, EU MDR and IVDR implementation, notified body requirements, and regulatory affairs strategy relevant to the European medical device community.

What is the difference between individual edition pages and this main page?

This page provides an overview of MedDev Day as an annual medical device conference series, covering its history, recurring themes, and professional community. Individual edition pages offer specific details about that year’s programme, speakers, registration, and focused topics. This main page serves as the canonical reference for the overall MedDev Day conference series.

Who should attend MedDev Day?

The medical device conference is designed for regulatory affairs professionals, quality management specialists, clinical affairs teams, medical affairs personnel, post-market surveillance experts, notified body staff, and anyone responsible for medical device regulation compliance in medical device manufacturers, CROs, or regulatory agencies.

How does MedDev Day address both MDR and IVDR?

MedDev Day provides comprehensive coverage of both EU MDR and IVDR frameworks. Sessions address medical device-specific requirements, in vitro diagnostic requirements, and shared elements like quality management systems, clinical evidence, and post-market surveillance. The conference recognizes that many medical device companies work with both regulations and require integrated regulatory affairs strategies.

Will notified bodies participate in MedDev Day?

Yes. MedDev Day regularly features presentations and panel participation from notified body representatives. These sessions provide direct insight into conformity assessment expectations, technical documentation review processes, and quality system audit requirements under EU medical device regulation. Notified body participation ensures medical device manufacturers understand current assessment practices and can optimize their conformity assessment strategies.

What makes MedDev Day different from other medical device regulation conferences?

MedDev Day specifically addresses the European medical device regulation landscape with practical, operations-focused content. The medical device conference brings together multi-stakeholder perspectives (manufacturers, notified bodies, regulators) and emphasizes EU MDR and IVDR implementation, notified body requirements, and real-world regulatory affairs challenges rather than theoretical discussions. Its focus on EU Single Market opportunities and regulatory efficiency reforms distinguishes it from general medical device conferences.
