WEBINAR: The Strategic Role of the Medical Science Liaison during a Product’s Life Cycle
Four modules training to learn and experience the role of a MSL
The role of a Medical Science Liaison (MSL) is to be learnt on the job on a day-by day basis. It is differently structured from company to company, and represents a complex, yet fascinating position.
Even when you have been working as a MSL for some time and you have learned a lot from colleagues and technical courses, it is very important to have the opportunity to discuss about the different situations to be handled, which is precisely what we intend to do through this hands-on and captivating course.
After a brief lecturing session, participants will take part in practical exercises in which, for example, they will be guided in the organization of an advisory board or in simulating some of the activities of a MSL during a given product life cycle.
- Knowing your centres (mapping & profiling)
- Disease awareness
- Insights collection
- Advisory boards
- Compassionate use
- Data dissemination
- Cross-functional activity
- Real-World Evidence
- Training (internal and external)
The trainers will share with participants their fifteen-years’ experience and their passion for the role of MSL!
The course will be in Italian.
Manuela Matasconi graduated in Molecular Biology and Genetics from the University of East Anglia in Norwich, and from 2001 to 2006 she completed her PhD in the Department of Medicine, Endocrinology and Metabolism at the Karolinska Institute of Stockholm.
She was a Medical Scientific Advisor/Liaison at UCB-Pharma from 2006 to 2008, and in 2008 she became Roche Italy’s first MSL Oncology. In this company she held various roles including Medical Liaisons Oncology Team Leader and Medical Manager Oncology.
She subsequently assumed the role of Medical Advisor / MSL (Hybrid Office & Field Based National Role) Immuno-Oncology and Medical Affairs at AstraZeneca, being Project Leader in many transversal projects at the same time.
She has a long experience in the role and is currently MSL Manager Lung Cancer at AstraZeneca where she actively works on the two main Launches in Oncology and is responsible for 10 resources dedicated to EGFR and Immuno-Oncology.
She has collaborated on international projects to define the structure, development paths and assessment metrics of the MSL. She is co-author of the book “MSL instructions for use”, published by Gesualdo Edizioni.
This course is designed for MSLs who would like to learn more and have practical advice about the important aspects of the role in the different phases of a given product life cycle.
Being in the role for at least 1 year or having taken the highly specialized course for the development of the technical-scientific skills of MSLs organized by LS Academy would be useful.
