WEBINAR: Market Access: Ways and Methods of Measuring the Value of a Drug or a Medical Device
How payers measure the value of a given product
How do “payers think” and how do they measure the value of a drug or a medical device?
The tools a payer uses to measure the value of a given product are specific and not always identifiable by “non-experts” in the field. Therefore, an “aura of mystery” is often created on the decision-making processes at the basis of the assessment which make the work of the other stakeholders - the manufacturers - participating in the process more difficult.
The course aims at providing an understanding of the tools used by payers (national, regional or local) to determine the value of a product (drug and / or medical device).
Evidence based medicine will give us the basis to deepen into ways of assessing the quality of the evidence as an integral part of undertaking a given product assessment. We will cover the different types of studies walking through examples of publications, and analyzing these upon the trainers experience (in the public sector).
In particular, examples of different observational studies will be analyzed (administrative databases; protocols).
Finally, we will discuss methods and examples of advanced assessment product methodologies, such as the GRADE Cochrane method.
