Participating in a clinical trial is often an extraordinary chance for patients in needs, sometimes, the only one they have. However, it can constitute a real challenge for the patients to attend all visits the study requires. Homecare visits have been designed to lessen this burden and improve the quality of life of patients. Indeed, some study-related visits can now take place in a location of choice of the subject (workplace, home, vacations, etc.), providing comfort and privacy to the patient. Implementing homecare visits has shown to not only improve the compliance and the retention of the patients in the study but also to increase subject enrolment as the sites can consider extending their research to further location. Furthermore the COVID pandemic has highlighted an additional advantage of homecare visits. This allowed the patient to continue their treatment without risking being contaminated by coming to the study site. Finally, homecare visits lessen the burden on Investigator Sites and free up site staff for other activities.
During this session, the lecturer will share her experience in providing homecare visits for patients enrolled in clinical trials, in both Europe and UK.
This sharing experience session aims to inform you about the possibility of bringing the clinical research to patient´s home, and how this service can improve the retention and quality of life of patients enrolled in clinical trials.
