About
The increasing importance of patients’ perspectives and their engagement in disease management - both on an individual and population level - has led to a substantial shift in therapeutic approaches towards a more patient-centred model of care.
As part of this patient-centred approach, reliable information originating straight from a patient is collected and used to assess treatment outcomes and the quality of patient management. Such health outcomes reported directly by a patient are referred to as Patient-Reported Outcomes (PROs); health-related quality of life (HR-QoL) is an essential part of these PROs.
This course will present the basic concepts of HR-QoL research, including the main HR-QoL models underlying HR-QoL measures, how they are constructed, how they work, how the generated scores are interpreted, and their relevance in a clinical context.
